Integrative Activities Supporting Ukrainian Refugees
Project Description
Key integrative activities
Our activities are led in three main directions:
- involvement of ukrainian boys and girls to our scout troops
- organizing ocasional integrative activities for Ukrainian girls and boys, such as sports, trips to the countryside, handicraft workshops, etc.
- organizing integrative day camps for Czech and Ukrainian boys and girls
We are convinced that all these activities allow children to grow personally, give them a safe space to find new friends and help them learn about Czech language and culture in a natural way. Therefore they assist them in becoming a part of the society they live in.
Later, we would like to include another activity that Ukrainian scouts have asked for:
- renting camp places in the Czech Republic for the realization of Ukrainian scout camps (i.e. Ukrainian boy and girl scouts will come to the Czech Republic and realize their camps here) and financially supporting these camps.
We have partially secured financing of some of the supporting activities thanks to the involvement of Junák – Czech Scout into an international project in collaboration with WOSM and UNICEF. This way we can support our troops and units in the involvement of Ukrainian children in scouting. We are currently discussing the financing of integrative day camps with another donor.
Due to the fact that the situation is still evolving and so are the relevant ways to support the integration of ukrainian refugees, currently we cannot provide financial support for some of our activities. These are especially:
- financial support for the scout units that organize leisure integrative activities for Ukrainian boys and girls (e.g. purchase of handicraft material, sports equipment, space rental, printing of materials for the activities, etc.)
- covering the expenses for Ukrainian scout camps in the Czech Republic (renting camp spaces, food, etc.)
- financial support of Ukrainian boys and girls who join scout troops (participation fees, scouting equipment, etc.)
Support required from FOSE: 5 000 €

Project Objectives
Junák – Czech Scout has been involved in supportive activities for Ukraine since the first days of the war conflict. During the first few weeks, we organized financial and material collections and other humanitarian aid. In the next phase, we have decided to focus our resources on supporting the integration of Ukrainian boys and girls who are at the moment in the Czech Republic as refugees and it can be expected that they will be forced to stay here for several months.
