New wind in our Sails

Project Description

The project’s aim is to support active sea scouts in their activities on water and popularize water activities, mainly sailing, in other scout groups and amongst the civilians as a means to recruit them to the sea scout groups. We want to do that by renovation of the fleet of sail ships that belong to the sea scouts of the region.

The renovation works will be conducted by older rovers and more experienced scouts. We will also engage younger scouts in smaller tasks. Thanks to the renovation we will be able to have safe and attractive water and sailing activities that will build teamwork, leadership, communication skills. Sailing activities are perfect for small groups of scouts – small sailboats can accommodate up to one skipper, leader and 5 scouts. Sailing improves decision making and builds sense of responsibility.

With the fleet renovated we be also able to allow scouts to train and acquire national and international sailing permits (sailing ship permit – inland skipper, sea ship permit – sea skipper, motorboat permit, water rescue permit) that will also be usable in other places I.E. during professional work as a lifeguard) We especially aim to support the region’s sea scouts but groups from all over the country are welcome to use and Scouts from all over the country in all age groups will be able to join the activities during their summer camps. The renovation will enable us to fully accommodate and conduct activities for around 2000 scouts during sailing season (mid spring – early autumn). We want to start the renovation works in May/June 2021 for the sailboats to be ready in august.
