Scout4future

Project Description

In the last 15 years, Cristian has experienced an extraordinary development, tripling its population and the number of households. All this development has taken place without considering the impact it has had on the environment and, implicitly, on the lives of its citizens. Given the role of the Scout Movement, and our mission to create a better world, or our goal to increase the level of involvement of scouts in the community life, it becomes mandatory to analyze all the factors that have a major influence on the future of the community.

The STEM concept gives us the opportunity to achieve the proposed goal in a modern and efficient way and gives researchers the opportunity to get in touch with new learning methods, based on modern non-formal education and with an impact on the environment and our fellow citizens.

Scout4future becomes the space where our children learn how to apply science and technology for the benefit of personal development closely related to current community issues. We cannot change the world tomorrow, but we owe it to our children to try to instill in them the civic sense that can be the engine of tomorrow’s change and the hope for a better future that is friendlier to nature, to our fellow human beings and to ourselves.

Project Objectives

Purpose: Using the STEM concept, adapted to the Scout Method’s system of progress, we try to identify specific community problems and implement measures to combat or limit their effects by directly involving the Scouts.

Objectives:

  1. Identifying the main pollutants and their source, informing the citizens weekly about the results on social media, and presenting a plan of measures to the Cristian Local Council.
  2. Identifying the main wildlife and bird species in the area, analyzing the impact that the housing and industrial development has had on them and measures to limit it.
  3. Protecting the main large herbivore species (deer, roe deer, wild boar) in the area by building a feeding station.
  4. Responsible consumption within the family and the community
  5. The applicability of the STEM concept on the professional orientation of the young generation.
